Low COVID-19 Testing – A Concern In Mizoram; Only 443 Samples Tested Within 24 Hours

The unprecedented times of COVID-19 and its low-testing figures, leading to less positivity rate have been considered as immediate concern in the northeastern state of Mizoram.

Aggressive testing & contract tracing are the required strategies generally recommended by medical fraternities across the globe, which might lead to a number of citizens testing positive for the viral infection.

It is significant because asking people with mild symptoms just to stay home shall lead to more infections in the household and community.

Its worthy to note that in the last 24 hours, the northeastern state of Mizoram have tested a total of 443 samples, out of which 37 samples belonged to males, while 44 of females.

Mizoram registered a total of 247 new COVID-19 cases, and six fatalities in the last 24 hours, as informed by the latest report of state Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR).

Besides, the daily positivity rate has been reported to be 18.28%, according to the information shared by state government today.

The active caseload now stands at 2821. While, a total of 1,38,293 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Mizoram so far. A total of 522 people have succumbed to the deadly infection.

If DIPR report is taken into context, out of the total samples tested – 54 belonged to symptomatic patients, 27 of asymptomatic.

Furthermore, the total recovery rate in the northeastern state stands at 1,34,950. The official statement further adds that no samples were tested through RT-PCR, TrueNAT, FIA. However, the 81 new cases have been confirmed through Rapid Antigen Test (RAgT).
