The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Center (ABVRCC) in Tripura successfully completed the complex 200th surgery recently.
A higher official of the Health and Family Welfare department claimed that the ABVRCC has been able to gain the confidence of patients in the entire North-Eastern region and other states as well.
Recently, a 29-year-old man from Manu Bazar in Sabroom was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and reached Agartala for the further treatment at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Cancer Center this year.
The tumor in his body was spread from chest to neck. There were immense swells, which depicted a life-risking surgery. However, the doctors decided to operate after the cancer was diagnosed.
Finally, Dr Ashish Kumar Gupta and Dr Pritesh Rajib Singh, the surgeons of the cancer hospital, along with Anesthesiologists – Dr Mrinal Kanti Debbarma and Dr Partha Debbarma performed the surgery on December 9 last.
After a 9-hour long surgery, the patient was kept in the Intense Care Unit (ICU). Currently, the patient’s condition is known to be stable.
Consequently, the dependence of patients on overseas treatment had been reduced as success is being achieved by the ABVRCC one after another. Now, patients from other states and neighbouring country Bangladesh are also coming to Agartala for their treatments at this cancer hospital.
The state government has hired two eminent co-surgeon from Mumbai and New Delhi, in order to avail the benefits of difficult cancer surgery.
