Manipur : Contraband Substances Worth Rs 10 Crore Seized In Tengnoupal

In a major operation against drug menace, the Moreh Battalion of Assam Rifles on Thursday seized a huge cache of contraband substances from Govajang Village, Tengnoupal District of Manipur.

Thorough investigation have led the security forces to confiscate 2.7 kgs of heroine worth of Rs 10.7 Crores.

Taking to Twitter, the Assam Rifles have confirmed the news, “ASSAM RIFLES RECOVERS HEROINE WORTH RS 10.7 CRORE IN MANIPUR
Moreh Battalion of #AssamRifles, on 16 Dec 21, recovered 2.7 Kg of heroine worth Rs. 10.7 Cr at Govajang Village, Tengnoupal District, Manipur.”

Its worthy to note that recently, a team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police seized a huge cache of contraband substances worth over Rs 500 Crore from Moreh, located along the Indo-Myanmar border.

Based on specific inputs, a joint team of 43 Assam Rifles and state Police recovered a consignment of contraband drugs from a warehouse located at Sunrise ground, Moreh, near the Indo-Myanmar border.

The last Indian town along the Indo-Myanmar border, Moreh, which lies atleast 107 kms from state capital Imphal, has been the gateway to Myanmar. According to security reports, this region stood to be of topmost priority for the government to check “infiltration”, and transportation of illegal items.
