Assam-Based Journo Reaches Gangtok, Disseminates Awareness On Security Rights Of Media Fraternities

In an attempt to disseminate the message of social safety, and generating awareness on safeguarding security rights of journos, the Assam-based journalist Snehankar Chakraborty reached the state capital of Sikkim, Gangtok.

Chakraborty has undertaken an initiative to generate awareness on safety & security of mediapersons.

The move came in the wake of several challenges/issues being faced by people working in the media.

However, in Assam, Chakraborty has already embarked on a bicycle ride, with an aim to cover a distance of 1000 kms across the state to spread awareness about the same.

Now, he wants to circulate the motto to other northeastern States, which commenced from the tiny Himalayan state of Sikkim.

“Apart from social safety and security of journalists I would also create awareness on global climate change and it’s a mission until and unless I find some answers, this is for the rights of journalists.” – shared Chakraborty.

Snehankar Chakraborty while talking to the mediapersons in Gangtok informed that “we should know the rights of the journalist, in fact some of the unions are working for it in India and we have laws and it is valid, but we should be aware of it.”

He also shared of covering all North-eastern states, South Asian countries and India.

Furthermore, the journalist informed that till 2020 more than 700 journalists have been killed – a documented figure, and things which are happening in places like Syria, Myanmar stood to be a concern fir media fraternities across the globe.
