The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed the President of Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA), Lobzang G Tenzing as the Manager of India U-19 Team which is gearing-up to participate at the Asia Cup Tournament, and International Cricket Council (ICC) U-19 Cricket World Cup in West Indies from January 14.

Organized by Asian Cricket Council (ACC), the Asia Cup tournament will take place at United Arab Emirates (UAE) from December 23.

The BCCI Secretary Jay Shah named Mr. Tenzing for the concerned designation.

Its worthy to note that Tenzing has served as the President of SICA since 2016, and under his dynamic leadership, the tiny Himalayan state has inscribed its name along the East Zone tournaments.

“I am pleased and honoured to be in the presence of the future cricket stars of the country. I hope to bring some dazzles of these stars back home and to our region. I am also immensely thankful to Shri Jay Shah secretary BCCI for giving me such honour and responsibility. His concern and commitment for developing NE is real and it shows in his action.” – said, Mr Tenzing.

Being a proactive cricket administrator, Mr Tenzing has worked hard for ensuring better infrastructure, enhanced funds and recognition from BCCI for state cricket bodies of not only his home state Sikkim but also the north-eastern states as a whole.

The Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA) is proud that BCCI has reposed his trust in the administrative abilities by appointing him as the Manager of the India Under-19 team, and also feels that his new responsibility will give a boost to the confidence of the Northeast cricket associations in producing national-level players and administrators.
