In an attempt to celebrate the literary works penned-down by some of the most respected writers and poets hailing from Soreng sub-division, the Sikkim based literary publication society – Pari Parkashan on Thursday felicitated 57 literary personalities.
Organized at the Sarwa Jayanti Rangamanch of Soreng Senior Secondary School, the event witnessed the presence of some dignified literary and academicians hailing from the northeastern state of Sikkim.
The renowned literary and academic, Dr. Ranjendra Bhandari graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while the Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang-Golay was the Guest of Honour.
Established on October 1, 2020, the Pari Publication is an initiative formed under the Chief patronage of CM Tamang.
With an aim to elevate the Nepali literary works into prominence, the publication has thoroughly contributed in printing and marketing the works and achievements of dignified personalities.
Addressing the gathering, CM Tamang congratulated all the literary personnel for their achievements and works, and highlighted the aims objectives & significance of the Publication Society.
He further stressed on the significance of the society towards the established and aspiring artists.
“With an intention to promote and encourage the works of our literal society and academics, the publication had been founded and that it should continue with the same essence and aspiration,” – quoted the Sikkim CM.
He also expressed his gratitude towards the committee for conferring him as the “Chief Patron”, and that he will always be providing all the necessary aid and support to the committee.
The CM suggested the Publication society to inspire and encourage the society into being more proactive towards the field of literature or literary writings, and motivated the society to address the Government with feedback and doubts, averting all obligations.
During the event, CM Tamang briefly spoke about reservation of medical reservation seats for deserving students. He informed that 50 aspiring medical students will receive full scholarships from the Government.
Meanwhile, the Chief Guest Dr. Rajendra Bhandari thanked the Chief Minister for his efforts in providing necessary support to the literary community.
He added that the CM’s vision to make Sikkim a Literary Hub will only be possible with the support and dedication from the people of Sikkim and it’s literary fraternity, and emphasized on the significance of Mother tongue.
He added that the event is a small homage to works and arts of 57 litterateurs, and announced that each year October 1 will be celebrated as Pari Prakashan Day in order to commemorate art and literature.
