Tripura : 2 Succumbed While Three Sustained Injuries After Vehicle Falls Into Gorge

Agartala, January 03, 2022 : Two persons succumbed while 3 others sustained severe injuries, after a Alto car fell in a 200-ft ditch while returning from Jampui hills after celebrating new year eve on Sunday.

The mishap took place on Assam-Agartala Road at Sikaribari area, a region located just a few kilometers away from the Longtorai Tempal on Longthorai hills.

Identified as Mithun Rudrapal (21) and Rubel Miah (20), both the deceased were residents of Bishramganj in Sipahijala District.

Meanwhile, the injured persons are – Jayanta Sarkar (18), Nayan Debnath (20) of Bishramganj; and Ajoy Bhowmik (18) of Khayerpur.

The five friends went to Jampui Hills for celebrating New Year’s eve, and was returning from back when the tragic incident occurred.

According to reports, Mithun was driving the car, Immediately after crossing the Longthorai Mandir, Mithun lost control and the car fell into the gorge.

Other drivers noticed the incident and informed police and fire service workers who immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the victims.

The injured were sent to Dhalai District Hospital and then to Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital in Agartala for better treatment. This mishap led to a traffic jam on the National Highway for quite some time.
