The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has expressed strong concern on multiple complaints registered against authorities for making COVID-19 vaccination mandatory for students to attend classes/appear in examinations.
“Vaccination should be taken with the free will and clear conscience of the receiver and not forced upon.” – informed a press release issued by the federation on Wednesday.
“While placing on record that The Federation is not against COVID-19 vaccine, forcing the same upon the students is not the right way forward. Therefore, the Federation appeals to the authorities concerned to refrain from such dictatorial practices which has been a cause of great mental & emotional stress to the young students.” – the press release further reads.
The Federation have also appealed students’ community to exercise prudence and adhere to COVID-19 guidelines. “More so, the vaccine hesitancy needs to be done away after having thoroughly studying the health implications based on scientific facts and not just relying on fake social media updates. This way, our society can trump over the deadly COVID-19.” – further added the release.
Notably, the Centre has recently informed the Supreme Court (SC) that COVID-19 inoculation guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) do not envisage forcible vaccination on individuals, without obtaining their consent/will.
