War-On-Drugs : Contraband Substances Worth Over 2000 Kgs Seized Along Assam-Tripura Border; 2 Held

In a major operation against drug menace, the Assam Police on Sunday have recovered a large stash of contraband substances from Karimganj District of Assam.

Based on specific inputs, the security forces conducted routine frisking and checking at Churaibari region, along the Assam-Tripura border, and successfully intercepted a truck arriving from Tripura.

According to security forces, a massive consignment of ganja worth 2,360 kgs was seized from the vehicle, and two people were apprehended for their alleged involvement in the smuggling.

Taking to Twitter, the Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the continued efforts of Assam Police in eradicating drugs menace and transforming the state into a total drug-free region. “#AssamAgainstDrugs A huge consignment of approximately 2,360 kg of ganja has been recovered at Churaibari border of a neighbouring state by @karimganjpolice. Compliments to @assampolice for its continued efforts in eradicating the drug menace. Keep it up” – he wrote.
