Assam Government Will Support 40 Tea Gardens To Develop Resorts For Promoting Tea Tourism : CM Sarma

In an attempt to promote tea-tourism and enhance the marketing of tea-producing regions, the Assam Government has proposed a move to support 40 tea gardens develop tourist resorts for promoting the sector.

The announcement has been made by Assam Chief Minister – Himanta Biswa Sarma during the 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Indian Tea Association held virtually on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Sarma mentioned that state government is closely working with the association for strengthening the tea industry – a crucial tourism sector which contributes substantially to the state’s economy.

Taking to Twitter, the Assam CM informed about the same, “Happy to attend the virtual 138th AGM of Indian Tea Association, which has been playing a major role for development of tea industry since its inception. Our Govt also is working closely with ITA to strengthen the industry in the State.”

“Informing ITA members about ‘Assam Tea Industry Special Incentive Scheme’ and the proposed move to help 40 tea gardens develop tourist resorts to promote tea tourism, I urged them to come forward to take advantage of the State Govt’s initiatives.” – he further added.
