The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), an ally of state’s ruling government – Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unanimously passed a slew of resolutions to intensify party’s activities across the northeastern state. One of these resolution deals with seeking demands for a separate statehood.
These resolutions were passed during the 2-days central executive committee meeting held at Dasarath Dev Smriti Bhavan.
According to ANI report, written memorandums for the same will be handed-over to the Tripura Chief Minister – Biplab Kumar Deb and Governor – Satyadeo Narain Arya to press for demands.
The IPFT General Secretary and Tribal Welfare Minister in the state government – Mevar Kumar Jamatia asserted that copies of these memorandums will be sent to Prime Minister – Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
“Our main demand is the creation of a separate state with sixth schedule areas of Tripura. We will draw the attention of the state and the center for more empowerment of the TTAADC areas. For that, we shall press for converting the district council into a territorial council. Another important demand is an early passage of the 125th constitutional Amendment Bill which is directly involved with the development of the tribal people.” he further stated.
