The Meghalaya Governor – Satya Pal Malik has urged farmers to unite and form a government of their own.
Addressing a Samaj Jagrati Shatabdi Mahotsav event, Malik informed that “Farmers should portray themselves as providers rather than takers. They should band together and build a government of their own.”
Malik also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence on the “murder of over 700 farmers during the protest against three disputed farm legislation”.
“Even if there is a minor accident in Delhi, the Prime Minister sends a condolence note. Despite the fact that nearly 700 farmers gave their life, he did not express his condolences” – the Governor made a snide remark.
Malik alleged that people counselled Malik to be silent when he tried to inform Prime Minister Modi about farmers’ problems, stating he would never be appointed to the position of President or Vice-President.
He added, “I told them that I’ve worked in senior positions and now want to help farmers.”
