Petrol prices hiked again in Assam

In six, out of 35, districts of Assam, petrol prices crossed the 100 mark while it will become costlier in 18 more districts soon.

On March 27, 2022, petrol prices reached 101.13 per litre in Lakhimpur and Majuli districts and it is hovering at Rs 99 per litre in 18 more districts.

According to a Times of India report, the four other districts where petrol prices crossed the 100 mark are Dhemaji, Biswanath, West Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao.

It may be mentioned here that petrol prices remained unchanged from November 6, 2021, to March 20, 2022, and they stood at Rs 94.58 in Guwahati.

The prices, however, varied between Rs 94.58 and Rs 97.12 in other districts. Guwahati recorded an increase of around Rs 27 per litre in the last two years, which is around a 27% hike compared to the price on March 27, 2020.

Petrol price on March 27, 2020, two days after the first nationwide lockdown was imposed to prevent the spread of Covid-19, was Rs 71.74 Guwahati, reported TOI.
