The Meghalaya Police have apprehended a youth from Soro locality of Orissa’s Balasore district on allegations of abducting a woman and her daughter from the Ampati district of Meghalaya.

Identified as Jairam Biswal, the accused is a resident of Natapada hamlet in Khaira Tehsil of Balasore district.

According to reports, Jairam was working in the Ampati police station area in Meghalaya, when he fell in love with a woman. Later, the wife and her daughter eloped to Odisha with him.

Following that, the Ampati police initiated an investigation into the case based on the complaint lodged by the woman’s husband. They apprehended Jairam after raiding multiple places in the Soro and Khaira police station regions.

He was produced before a local court and was taken to Meghalaya on a transit remand.
