The Tripura Chief Minister – Biplab Kumar Deb instructed the state police officials to undertake strict action against those who reportedly assaulted the Congress politician Sudip Roy Barman on Sunday.
“The Chief Minister ordered police officials to take strong action against those who attempted to attack Barman, injuring his driver and personal guard. He also spoke with the Director-General of Police (DGP) of Tripura Police to take the necessary measures,” informed sources.
According to Tripura Police, one individual has been apprehended in connection with the crime.
However, the identity of the accused has not been revealed yet.
Its worthy to note that the Congress leader – Sudip Roy Barman, was allegedly attacked by some miscreants while visiting advocate Somik Deb at his home in Tripura’s Agartala district.
In the reported incident, Barman was unharmed, but his driver and bodyguard were injured.
“The state is completely devoid of law. My driver was immediately accosted by miscreants using dangerous weapons. There were more than 50 bikers, all of them wore helmets to hide their faces,” the Congress leader claimed.
The miscreants, according to Barman, seized his personal security guard’s weapon.
Both of the injured were brought to the hospital for treatment, and the West Agartala police station has been notified.
