Assam : BJP Candidate – Mrigen Sarania Reappointed As GMC Mayor

Mrigen Sarania who won from Ward No 29 of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) elections has been re-elected as its Mayor for the second term.

While, the BJP candidate – Smita Roy, who won from Ward No 22 has been appointed as the Deputy Mayor.

Sarania – the former GMC mayor, was re-elected for a second term, claiming to be the most experienced of the 58 new NDA council members elected during the GMC polls. He has served three terms on the municipal council, including as mayor from 2016 to 2018.

Its worthy to note that the Congress, which had formed the GMC executive body in 2013, lost its majority, following the resignation of a councillor, and the BJP took charge.
