The Assam Government led by Chief Minister – Himanta Biswa Sarma completed its first year in power today; in presence of the cabinet ministers and Union Minister of Home Affairs & Cooperation – Amit Shah.
In order to mark the first anniversary of the Assam CM-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, the Union Home Minister today presented the much-coveted ‘President’s Colour Award’ to the police officials for their exceptional achievement in combatting insurgency, regulating crime, preserving law and order, and safeguarding lives and property.
Taking to Twitter, Sarma wrote “Heartiest congratulations to all ranks of @assampolice on being presented the much-coveted President’s Colour by Adarniya HM Shri @amitshah ji. It’s a moment of pride for Assam & fitting tribute to Assam Police’s spirit of ‘জনহিত জনসেৱাৰ্থে’ (always at public service).”
“This historic feat would not have been possible without @assampolice’s dedication & sacrifice in maintaining peace in society and helping us remain steadfast in our goal of realising Adarniya PM Shri @narendramodi ji’s vision of a New & Vibrant Assam.” – he further added.

Meanwhile, Shah also planted a sapling here on Tuesday morning, in order to commemorate the first year of the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led Assam government.
Taking to Twitter, the Assam CM wrote “A Year..Many Miles to Go… Marking completion of one year of our Govt, we’re blessed to have august presence of Hon Union HM Shri @AmitShah ji amidst us. He planted a sapling today as a symbol of another new beginning & embodiment of our unflinching commitment.”

Its worthy to note that Sarma had succeeded Sarbananda Sonowal as the chief minister to head the second BJP-led government in the state. Its other partners in the current ruling coalition are the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL).
