IIT-Guwahati Inaugurates ‘North East Research Conclave (NERC) 2022 Road Show’ Across Northeastern States

The Indian Institute of Technology-Guwahati (IIT-G) recently launched the North East Research Conclave (NERC) 2022 Road Show; which is expected to visit the academic institutions across all the North Eastern States.

The first edition of this conclave will take place from May 20-22, and bring together 3,000 distinguished individuals from the eight North-East states as well as other parts of India.

It was flagged-off by the Director of IIT-Guwahati – Prof TG Sitharaman, in the presence of Kailsah Karthik, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup District, Preeti Kumari, IAS, Assistant Commissioner, Kamrup. Institute faculty and students.

The Road Show attracted over 400 students, staff, and faculty members; who visited the Guwahati Biotech Park after the cross-campus march. The slogan for the extravagant event was – “Let’s Research Toward a Sustainable Society”.

Organized jointly by the IIT Guwahati & state’s Education Department, this event will be hosted under the Chief Patronship of Union Minister of Education – Dharmendra Pradhan; and Co-Chief Patronship of Assam CM – Himanta Biswa Sarma.

This conclave intends to develop a common platform for collaboration and to promote the greatest R&D initiatives from all educational/research institutions and industry in the northeastern states through an exhibition.

Its goal is to foster the development of indigenous technologies and innovations in the region, as well as to expand the breadth and establish the groundwork for translational research and entrepreneurship; thereby assisting the country to achieve the goals of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
