The Assam Minister for Environment and Forest, Excise and Fisheries – Parimal Suklabaidya has inaugurated five Model High Schools at Karimganj district.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Dullabcherra TE Model High School and Goombhira TE Model High Schools under Ratabari LAC, Suklabaidya asserted that unveiling 96 model high schools along tea gardens ushers in a new era of quality education; thereby uplifting the tea community.
Suklabaidya has also unveiled three model high schools – Bubrighat TE Model High School, Pathini TE Model High School and Sefinjuribeel TE Model High School under Patharkandi LAC.
He claimed that the current state administration led by Chief Minister – Himanta Biswa Sarma, has given utmost priority to the education sector, in an effort to uplift the communities.
Its worthy to note that Sarma on Wednesday inaugurated six model schools at Ghagra, Rupajuli, Sonajuli, Thakurbari and Fulbari tea gardens of Sonitpur district; with an intent to deliver educational facilities to the concerned community.
The state administration had earlier proclaimed that it will establish 119 such schools in tea garden areas, with roughly 15,000 children already been enrolled. While, eight teachers have been appointed for each school.
Sarma further added that previously, these children attended local lower primary schools, and majority of them dropped-out of higher courses, as they had to travel a long distance from the tea garden areas where their parents worked. Besides, each school will receive Rs 1 lakh for free textbooks, uniforms, mid-day meal, etc.
