The Assam Police has apprehended two youths from Assam’s Sadiya district, who attempted to join the Naga terror outfit – Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak Muivah (NSCN-IM).
Based on specific intelligence inputs, an operation was launched to apprehend these two youths from Sadiya District on Sunday.
According to the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Sadiya – Pushkin Jain, these youths were later counselled and handed-over to family members.
“These youths claimed that they intend to join the group. Social media has the ability to readily impact youths. All activities are being monitored.” – he stated.
According to ANI report, a few youths from Upper Assam, notably those from Sadiya, have recently joined the proscribed United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I).
Meanwhile, the security forces are currently investigating the matter.
