Manipur : Drugs Worth Over Rs 34 Crores Seized From Kangpokpi; 2 Held

Kangpokpi police has recently confiscated yet another significant hoard of illicit narcotics valued more than Rs 34 crores in the international market.

This has been informed during a press conference, convened at the office of SP Kangpokpi on Monday, in the presence of SP Kangpokpi Amrita Sinha, additional SP (Law and Order) Abul Kalam, additional SP (Ops) Tholu Rocky, inspector Sunil Kumar, OC Kangpokpi, and other officials.

The driver, identified as – P Sahriini Mikrii, a resident of Senapati district; and the occupant identified as Paotinmang Khongsai, a resident of Chandel district were found behaving in a very suspicious manner.

Meanwhile, their suspicious behaviour and denying the transportation of drugs, a mechanic was requisitioned for detailed inspection.

On careful examination, two boxes were found neatly welded at the undercarriage.

A case under FIR No. 23(6)2022KPI-PS u/s 21(C)/29/60(3) of Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered for investigation.

The duo has been remanded to 10 days of police custody till June 27.
