In a major crackdown against drug menace, the Assam Rifles personnel have confiscated a massive stockpile of Methamphetamine tablets worth over Rs 1 Crores from the possession of a Myanmar-based couple in Aizawl’s Vaivakawn Zohnuai.
Based on specific inputs, a joint operation was launched by the Lakhimpur Battalion & 19 FIT DGARFIU Battalion of the paramilitary troop in collaboration with the Mizoram Excise & Narcotics Department.
As part of the operation, the security forces have recovered around 58,000 Methamphetamine tablets worth of Rs 1 crores and 74 lakhs (1,74,00,000) from the region on Monday. These contraband substances weighed around 5 kgs and 708 grams.
The apprehended couple have been identified as – Lalnunziri and her partner Lalkungpuii, both hailing from Myanmar. In the meantime, 10 grams of Heroin was also seized from the possession of Lalkungpuii.
These apprehended individuals have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985.
