The Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) has torched effigies of Prime Minister – Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Home Affairs & Cooperation – Amit Shah, marking protest against the BJP-led administration’s move to arrest the former party president – Rahul Gandhi.
Meanwhile, the party has also staged a non-violent protest at Vijay Chowk outside Parliament, in protest against the Enforcement Directorate (ED)’s questioning to party’s chief – Sonia Gandhi in the National money laundering case and price hike.
According to the APYC President – Tarh Johny, “Today is the Black day of democracy in this country. It is anarchy & dictatorship enforced on the common man, who is already under the burden of price rise, GST, unemployment and harassment.”
He further mentioned that the National President of Indian Youth Congress – Srinavas BV was also tortured by the Delhi Police, during the peaceful protest and was detained later.
“The APYC strongly denounces such BJP government actions and characterises them as attempts to muzzle opposition to draconian rule. India’s democracy is under grave danger under the BJP-led government,” – alleged the leader.
