The Tripura Police has launched a massive manhunt across Kalajhari and Atharamura ranges, based on intelligence inputs regarding the infiltration of a four-member group of the proscribed outfit – National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT).

According to reports, the group reportedly moved from Ganganagar in Dhalai district to Taidu in Gomati district, in an attempt to accomplish specific tasks.

The cadres are believed to have crossed the barbed wire fence from its Bangladesh-based training camps and entered Tripura via Manipur with firearms.

“The group belongs to the NLFT’s Biswa Mohan faction, whose cadres are still active. Recently, they have ramped-up their operations and recruitment drives in bordering hamlets, predominantly dominated by tribal communities,” – informed sources.

The group – led by Tirti Molsom alias Bikram, is moving through dense woodlands and hilly terrains.

“Their motives are unclear. However, based on their strategic movements, it appears like they have a particular operation to complete before the Independence Day celebration. So far, none of our police team have seen anyone wielding arms,” – noted the intelligence sources.

In order to prevent security breach, additional forces of police and Tripura State Rifles have been deployed along the region.

The situation is being closely monitored by the security forces and its intelligence network.

However, local sources remarked that members of the outlawed group have been spotted in the villages, but the offenders left the location, before conducting police’s search operations.

It will be interesting to watch what measures are been initiated to boost trust along the hilly regions and obstruct rebel movement.
