The President of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) – K Therie have criticized the Assam Chief Minister – Himanta Biswa Sarma for escorting the Nagaland Chief Minister – Neiphiu Rio to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) offices, with an intent to derail settlement of the Agreements.
According to a press release issued by the NPCC President “Convener NEDA is expected to oversee the welfare of regional peace and harmony in matters of law and order and to promote growth of economy in the region. His role for Nagaland should have been to fulfil the commitment of BJP which is ‘Election for Solution’.”
“All non-BJP Chief Minsters of Assam have been cordial to Nagaland. Even B.P. Chaliha played the role of Peace Mission for lasting solution. We are sorry to note the escorting role of Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma in derailing the much hoped for settlement to the political problem of Nagas,” – the statement further reads.
