Agartala, August 25, 2022 : A patient of Tripura’s Khilpara under RadhakishorePur police station filed a case against Gomati District Hospital’s Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Debasree Debbarman on Wednesday for asking patients to visit her private chamber instead of coming to the hospital.
It is reported that the MS Dr Debasree Debbarman, who is also an ophthalmologist in Gomati District Hospital was supposed to provide services in the hospital premises on Tuesday, but she is alleged to have not visited the hospital. Rather she sat in her chamber and met patients. Many patients visited the hospital that day and returned home without receiving services.
Consequently, an aggrieved person named Pradip Kumar Sarkar went to the private chamber of Dr Debasree Debbarman and both had heated debate with the use of slang language. He questioned how an irresponsible doctor was placed in such an important position, when many patients had to come to the hospital and return home without getting medical services. He said that a case has been filed against Dr Debasree Debbarman at Radha Kishorepur police station.
However, there is a storm of criticism from patients. A section of unscrupulous mentality doctors open private chambers for additional income by asking patients to visit private chambers instead of visiting hospitals run by the government.
People from different quarters alleged that the culture of asking patients to visit private chambers by the doctors is an old practice due to that culture, the people of the state are not getting proper services in the government hospitals. Those doctors are still in good health even in the rightist period led by BJP after the change of Left Front government’s tenure. A section of doctors makes it clear that money is the last and ultimate thing in their life while patients treat them as God for their cure and treatment.
RK Pur police station official in condition of anonymity said that a person has filed a case, but this won’t be registered as this matter will be looked after the Health and Family Welfare Department and disciplinary action will be initiated against the District Hospital’s MS Dr Debbarman.
