The Union Minister of State (MoS) for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) – Bhanu Pratap Singh Verma has remarked that states like Manipur have better prospects to register progress, if it concentrates on medium-scale industries.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of a National SC-ST Hub (NSSH) Mega Conclave at Churachandpur District; the Union Minister stated that the government has introduced various schemes on infrastructure development, credit and financial assistance, technology upgradation, skill development alongwith the inclusion of a large number of business units and exporters.

“MSME will also support job creation and give citizens access to employment. Manipur doesn’t have any major industry, but despite this, its smaller businesses function on par with those in other states,” – informed Verma.

“Cluster groups should take the benefits of numerous initiatives undertaken to strengthen small & medium enterprises in the state. The ministry will expand its support towards these organizations, interested in forming such cluster groups to promote medium and small enterprises,” – he further added.

Besides, the Textiles, Commerce & Industries Minister of Manipur – Nemcha Kipgen noted that the state administration is ready to provide all possible assistance to support those working in MSME to avail these schemes.

The NSSH which hosted the event is offering various industry specific training, business orientation programmes, knowledge sessions on e-tendering to develop technical and business skills of SC-ST MSE’s in close partnership with industry and academia.
