In a tragic incident, one pilot has died and another was grievously injured; following the crash of an army aviation Cheetah helicopter near Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh.
According to reports, the Indian Army’s Cheetah helicopter flying along the forward areas near Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang crashed on October 5 at around 10 AM, during a routine sortie.
“This unfortunate incident occurred at Nyamjang Chu near Bap Teng Kang waterfall area of Jemeithang circle in Tawang district; when the helicopter with two pilots was coming from Surwa Samba area on a routine sortie,” – informed sources.
“Both pilots were evacuated to nearest Military Hospital. One of the pilots, Lt Col Saurabh Yadav, who was critically injured, succumbed to the injuries during treatment. The second pilot is under medical treatment. The cause of the crash at this stage is not known. Details are being ascertained,” – asserted the army.
Taking to Twitter, the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister – Pema Khandu wrote “Pained by the news of crash of @adgpi helicopter at Nyamjang Chu near BTK area of Jemeithang circle in Tawang district. I am in touch with the Army officials for every possible assistance, and pray for speedy recovery of the injured pilots.”
