Interstate vehicular movement have been severely disrupted between Meghalaya, Assam, Mizoram and Tripura; owing to the massive landslide which occurred along the Shillong-Silchar Highway.
According to police reports, huge debris of the massive landslide which occurred on Wednesday morning, had blocked the Sonapur Tunnel near Narpuh Wildlife Sanctuary; thereby disrupting vehicular movements in NH-6 along Meghalaya’s East Jaintia Hills District.
However, restoration work is underway. No casualties have been reported.
Taking to Twitter, the official account of East Jaintia Hills Police wrote “Landslide on NH 06. Another landslide has occurred on NH06 at Sonapur Tunnel today the 05/10/2022,where huge boulders have blocked the Highway. Efforts are already underway to clear the same.We will be updating as soon as the Highway is cleared.”

Its worthy to note that traffic in NH-6 along East Jaintia Hills District was disrupted for three times on September last.
