The Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) – Maj Gen V K Nambiar, YSM, SM today called-upon the Mizoram Chief Minister – Zoramthanga at the latter’s office in Aizawl.
The Chief Minister was appreciative of the cordial relations between Assam Rifles and State Government and hoped that good efforts of the Assam Rifles will continue within the coming days.
The General officer also recommended that there should be a joint and careful monitoring and management of illegal influx of Myanmar nationals, in order to avoid discrepancies in refugee data.
Additionally, he informed the CM that Assam Rifles will collaborate with the state administration to promote all central & state government-sponsored schemes among the residents of outlying locations, in order to raise their living standards.
Furthermore, he mentioned that the path-breaking perception management initiatives would remain in place; and will be planned in a manner to benefit the locals in the best possible manner.
He assured the CM of all the possible support and assistance from Assam Rifles to the State Government whenever required.
The ongoing Drug menace was also discussed. Despite the FMR’s difficulties and the size of the AOR, every effort is being made to restrict the entry and exit points at the Indo-Myanmar border in order to prevent illegal drugs from entering the hinterland.
