The Union Minister of Home Affairs & Cooperation – Amit Shah has reached Sikkim for his one-day visit to attend the ‘Cooperative Dairy Conclave’, organized by the National Cooperative Dairy of India (NCDI) in association with Sikkim Cooperative Milk Producers Union at the Manan Kendra in Gangtok.
Upon his arrival at the Libing Helipad in Gangtok, Shah received a rousing welcome from the Sikkim Chief Minister – Prem Singh Tamang (Golay). He was accompanied by the Speaker of Sikkim Legislative Assembly (SLA), Deputy Speaker of SLA, legislators, MP of Lok Sabha, dignitaries from Delhi, Chief Secretary (CS) of Sikkim, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Gangtok and officials from the Home department.
According to reports, the Union Home Minister along with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President – JP Nadda is also scheduled to arrive in Assam on Friday evening to attend party-related programmes.
The home minister has also unveiled a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Rajbhavan in Gangtok. Following the inaugural ceremony, Shah will inaugurate the dairy conclave.
Later in the day, Shah will meet BJP’s core group in Sikkim before leaving for Assam.
Shah and Nadda are also scheduled to hold a meeting with Assam BJP’s core committee on Friday at state guest house in Guwahati.
Besides, the Tripura Chief Minister – Dr Manik Saha is set to join his counterparts from other northeastern states in a meeting convened by Shah in Guwahati on Saturday to discuss ways for combatting the drug menace along the region.
On Saturday, the two leaders will inaugurate BJP’s new state office on National Highway-27 at Basistha Chariali area, in presence of Chief Minister – Himanta Biswa Sarma and and Union Shipping, Ports and Waterways Minister Sarbananda.
Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, the BJP’s Assam President – Bhabesh Kalita asserted that “After the function, the leaders will address a rally of BJP booth workers at Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara. We expect around 40,000-45,000 booth workers to attend the rally.”
