The Arunachal Pradesh Government has been striving to empower girl students through ‘Vidya Scheme’ since 2016-17.
According to an official bulletin posted by the Arunachal CM – Pema Khandu, a total of Rs 10,000 is being fixed deposited in the name of every girl student, while every girl student of government schools from Class VI-XII has been attaining free sanitary napkins.
The state government has disbursed funds worth of Rs 52.87 Crores till date, under the ‘Vidya Scheme’. While, funds worth of Rs 11.73 Crores has been disbursed under the ‘Health and Hygiene Scheme’ till date.
The key objective behind introducing the ‘Vidya Scheme’ is to enhance the girl’s education, in order to encourage girls for education.

The state government has also been putting immense efforts to expand further quality education infrastructure. As part of its continuous initiatives, the seats of higher learning have been upgraded and the creation of 65 new posts for Assistant Professors have also been approved.
As per the bulletin, Rs 3 crores has been granted for the State Engineering College of Toru; while, grant-in-aid of Rs 5 crores has been disbursed for the Arunachal University in Pasighat. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been inked with the Rashtriya Raksha University for establishing a campus at Pasighat.

Considering “libraries as an important part of human capital development”, the state government has constructed knowledge-banks i.e., easy-to-access libraries, so that students can enrich their knowledge and contribute more to the state’s progress.
The official bulletin further reads that “a double-storied Model Library Building has been completed at Naharlagun. While, libraries has been built at Deomali, Pongchau, Wakka, Laju, Mahadevpur and Khimiyang. Two sub-divisional libraries has been constructed at Dambuk and Bilat. While, two block libraries has been completed at Kanubari and Hanoko.
