Assam : Suspected Drug Dealer Shot Dead In Police Firing At Tinsukia District

A suspected drug dealer was killed when police fired at him on Sunday after his gang allegedly attacked the security personnel with stones in Tinsukia district of Assam.

The incident occurred at the district’s Tongona Sengapathar neighbourhood.

“Acting on a tip-off, a police team searched a residence in Tongona hamlet, where four suspected drug dealers were meeting. After they noticed the police party, the drug dealers began to throw stones,” an official claimed.

In response to the stone-pelting, the security forces fired at the leg of one suspect, who was immediately rushed to the hospital.

However, due to excessive blood loss, the suspect succumbed to his injuries while being brought to hospital.

“The body of the 36-year-old deceased has been brought to Tinsukia Civil Hospital for post-mortem,” – officials added.

Meanwhile, the three other people in the alleged gang, were taken into custody by the police.
