The Union Minister of Home Affairs & Cooperation – Amit Shah has asked the northeastern Chief Ministers to ensure financial discipline of their respective states, a vital component to make India’s economy “the second largest in the world”.
Addressing the 70th plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Guwahati on Sunday, the Union Minister claimed that the development of Northeast has been impeded for decades, due to insurgency, lack of connectivity and previous government’s unwillingness to focus into the region.
“The administration of PM Modi made an effort to comprehend the underlying challenges and devised solutions to support the region move towards development,” – he stated.
During the last eight years of the PM Modi government, numerous attempts have been made to improve connectivity, foster peace along the region; thereby ensuring its development.
He also urged the state governments to maximize the use of satellites and technologies of North East Space Application Centre (NESAC) in flood control, irrigation, tourism, afforestation and agriculture.
