Two persons were killed and several others were injured in a fatal road accident, which occurred at Manipur’s Senapati District on Tuesday.

According to police reports, a Winger and an Alto Car collided between Karong Bridge and Mount Zion Sr Secondary School, 6 kms away from Senapati Police Station along NH-2 at around 7 AM on Tuesday.

The Winger vehicle which was carrying 13 passengers was arriving from Imphal; and hit an Alto car which was coming from Maram side. It fell into the Barak River, leaving two persons dead and the others injured. The injured persons were immediately rushed into the Senapati District Hospital.

These victims have been identified as – Munna Kumar (32), a resident of Bihar; and Munna Kumar Sharma (24) hailing from Uttar Pradesh. The bodies have been shifted to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) morgue for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered at the Senapati Police Station for further investigation.
