Nagaland : Assam Rifles Host National Integration Tour To Gujarat For Students Of Dimapur & Chumukedima

The Dimapur Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (North) organized a ’10-Days National Integration Tour’ to Gujarat for the students of Dimapur and Chumukedima districts (Nagaland) wef September 30-October 10, 2022.

It aimed to provide the students, an exposure to various educational & industrial institutions in the state of Gujarat to bring about a comprehensive growth. It was flagged-off from Tetseo College on September 29 2022 by Brigadier Sachinder Tiwari, Sena Medal, Commander, 6 Sector Assam Rifles in the presence of civil dignitaries, GB’s, professors & students of both colleges.

A total of 16 students (nine girls and seven boys) and two professors from Tetso College and St Joseph University participated in the tour.

The participating students & professors visited IIM Ahmedabad, Statue of Unity, NIFT Gandhinagar, Reliance Refinery, Ahmedabad Science City, Vikram Sarabhai Space Exhibition Centre, Sabarmati Ashram, Akshardham Temple & Narara Marine Park. En-route the students also visited India Gate & National War Memorial at New Delhi.

During the tour, the students got an opportunity to witness a demonstration by the elite National Security Guards (NSG) and an equipment display by 18 Maratha Light Infantry Battalion. The students also had the honour of interacting with Shri Acharya Devvrat, the Hon’ble Governor of Gujarat on October 6, 22.

The tour programme was flagged-in at St Joseph University on October 11, 2022 by Major General Vikas Lakhera, Sena Medal, IGAR (North). The flag-in programme was attended by local administration officials, college staff and approx 1000 students.

During the programme, student representatives shared their experiences during the tour and students were felicitated by Major General Vikas Lakhera, Sena Medal, IGAR (North).

The programme concluded with tea & interaction with the students & faculty of both the colleges. College management and civil authorities extended their gratitude to Assam Rifles for this noble gesture which would go a long way in shaping the bright and young minds of Nagaland.
