Tripura : President Draupadi Murmu To Flag-Off Agartala-Kolkata Express Train On October 13

Agartala, October 11, 2022 : The Northeast Frontier Railway has decided to extend the service of Guwahati-Kolkata-Guwahati Express to Agartala to further develop Agartala by railway connectivity with the rest of the country.

Accordingly, the train number 02518/02517 Guwahati-Kolkata-Guwahati Express along with new train number 02502/02501 Agartala-Kolkata-Agartala Express will be extended to Agartala once a week. Both the trains will run till April 30, 2023 next year. In addition, the President of India Draupadi Murmu will launch this special train from Agartala railway station at 09.25 hours on October 13.

Sabyasacchi Dey, Chief Public Relations Officer, North Eastern Frontier Railway informed that this special inaugural train between Agartala and Kolkata will start at 0925 hours on October 13 and reach Kolkata at 1850 hours the next day.

During the return journey, this train will depart from Kolkata on 14 October at 2200 hours and reach Agartala on October 16 at 0800 hours. This inaugural special train will run via New Karimganj, New Haflong, Guwahati, Goalpara Town, Kokrajhar, New Coochbehar, Kishanganj, Katwa and Bundel.

The train will have a total of 14 rooms including one AC first class, five AC 3-tier, six sleeper classes, one general seating and one guard-cum-luggage coach.

During its regular operation, train number 02502 Agartala-Kolkata Express will leave Agartala every Wednesday at 0730 hours and reach Kolkata next day at 1500 hrs. During the return journey train number 02501 Kolkata-Agartala Express will leave Kolkata every Sunday at 2140 hours and reach Agartala at 0515 hours on Tuesday.

Existing train number 02518 Guwahati-Kolkata Express departs Guwahati every Saturday at 2100 hours and reaches Kolkata next day at 1500 hours. During the return journey train number 02517 Kolkata-Guwahati Express train will leave Kolkata every Thursday at 2140 hours and reach Guwahati next day at 1615 hours, said Sabyasachi Dey, CPRO of the NFR.

Meanwhile, Director General of Tripura Police Amitabh Ranjan on Monday visited various spots to inspect the security arrangements for the visit of President Droupadi Murmu on October 12. President Droupadi Murmu is coming on a two-day visit to the state on October 12. She will participate in several programs in the state and will also offer puja at Tripura Sundari Temple. The President is scheduled to land at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport here on Wednesday at 11.15 AM.
