The Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh – Chowna Mein noted that the state government is all set to pay a befitting tribute to the ‘unsung heroes’ by constructing war-memorials for the Anglo-Khamti War, Anglo-Abor Wars and the Ninu Wancho-Anglo War; and establish a War Museum in Itanagar.
Addressing a joint meeting of the Core Committee and Research Team of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) at State Civil Secretariat on Tuesday, the Deputy CM stated that “the state must celebrate its unsung heroes by giving them a befitting tribute.”
“The Unsung Heroes’ will be honoured on the Statehood Day with a citation or momento. Besides, Theatrical Shows, Photo Exhibitions and Workshops will also be featured during the celebration,” – he stated.
Besides, the state administration will also submit documents of Arunachal’s ‘Unsung Heroes’ for the National Tribal Freedom Fighter’s Museum in Gujarat.
The Research Team has also briefed about the outcome of their visits to various Institutes of the United Kingdom (UK) and discussed about the celebration of the Unsung Heroes and to honour them along with the celebration of the Statehood Day.
The next review meeting will be held on December 20. During this meeting, the RGU Research Team will deliver a comprehensive report of their documentations.
Its worthy to note that the Arunachal Pradesh government in 2021 constituted an Unsung Heroes Core Committee to conduct research on the contribution of various personalities of the state in the nation’s freedom struggle.
The committee’s duties include gathering and studying original records that are available in libraries and other locations, asking prominent people for their opinions, visiting locations with historical significance, and taking whatever necessary action to honour the ‘unsung freedom warriors of Arunachal Pradesh’.
It has so far identified 15 unsung heroes, 100 freedom fighters and 64 martyrs from various communities of Arunachal which have also been recognized by the Government of India.
