On the last day of her two-days official visit, the President of India – Droupadi Murmu on Friday offered prayers at the Kamakhya Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, located atop Nilachal Hills in Guwahati.

She was accompanied by Governor Jagdish Mukhi, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other dignitaries.

Addressing the mediapersons, a priest of the Kamakhya Temple noted that “the President and her daughter paid obeisance in the sanctum sanctorum and performed ‘parikrama’ of the temple. She offered puja and performed rituals. As the President has several programmes during the day, there was no time for interaction with her.”

Taking to Twitter, the CM wrote “Honoured to accompany Hon’ble President Smt Droupadi Murmj ji, who is on a 2-day visit to Assam, to the Kamakhya Temple along with Hon’ble Governor Prof @jagdishmukhi ji. We sought blessings from Maa Kamakhya and prayed for well-being and welfare of everyone. @rashtrapatibhvn

The President will attend a slew of programmes and virtually launch several projects, later in the day.

She will introduce model “Anganwadi” centres with state-of-the-art amenities as well as “Mission Saubhagya,” a programme to electrify every home.

Meanwhile, the President will launch model ‘Anganwadi’ centres with modern facilities and the ‘Mission Saubhagya’, a programme to achieve universal household electrification.

Murmu will inaugurate a rail-fed petroleum storage depot of Indian Oil Corporation at Moinarbond in Silchar; and scheduled to lay the foundation-stones for 100 model secondary schools along the tea garden regions.

Besides, she will also unveil two highway projects and a modern cargo-cum-coaching terminal at Aghtori in Guwahati.

The President will then flag-off a train from Guwahati to Lumding, up to Shokhuvi (Nagaland) and Mandipathar (Meghalaya).
