In a major operation against drug menace, the Mizoram Police today confiscated heroin worth over Rs 34 Crores from Champhai District.

Acting on specific inputs, the Champhai Police launched an operation on Friday, and seized 500 soap cases of heroin neatly concealed in a vehicle. The entire consignment weighed around 6.836 kgs and valued at Rs 34.18 crores in international market.

In connection with the incident, the police personnel has arrested the driver, who has been identified as – Lalawmpuia (45) hailing from Vengsang in Champhai District.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered at the Champhai Police Station for further investigation on forward/backward linkages.
