The Assam Chief Minister – Himanta Biswa Sarma today held a review meeting on ‘Draft Tea Policy’ and proposed to make it more reflective towards the needs of concerned stakeholders.
During the meeting, the officials have also suggested to make the ‘Assam Tea Policy’ into broad-based, thereby aligning with the requirements of the industry.
Taking to Twitter, the Assam CM wrote “Tea being the largest industry in Assam, we’re committed to its growth.

It’s worthy to note that the northeastern state of Assam has produced more than 50% of the total tea production in India, and close to 12% of the global production.
Therefore, the state administration is immensely contributed towards the growth of this sector, which includes deep socio-economic significance for the state.
On the other hand, the Assam CM today released a report on ‘Floods and Impacts on Livelihood in Rural Assam’ prepared by the State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA).
During the event, the Assam CM directed the body to share the report with departments and hold a brainstorming session involving the Revenue, Agriculture and Water Resources departments for implementation of the report.
Taking to Twitter, the Assam CM wrote “Released a report on ‘Floods and Impacts on Livelihood in Rural Assam’ by SITA.
