The Assam Government has decided to allot land to the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) for a second entry into the Guwahati Railway Station from Paltan Bazar.
This decision was undertaken during a meeting convened by the Assam Chief Minister – Himanta Biswa Sarma with the General Manager of NF Railway – Anshul Gupta and Managing Director (MD) of Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) – Rahul Chandra Das.
The concerned meeting primarily focused to discuss the expansion of existing rail infrastructure and new projects.
However, the meeting has also decided to expand infrastructure at Agthori Railway Station. In accordance with the same, the state government has decided to allot land after getting request from the NFR.
Issues like – elephant corridor and elephant deaths caused by train hits were also discussed during the meeting. The Assam CM has asked the NFR GM to deploy high-end tech solutions for saving the tuskers.
Taking to Twitter, the Assam CM wrote “To discuss expansion of existing rail infrastructure & new projects, met NF Railway GM Shri Ansul Gupta, ASTC MD Shri Rahul Chandra Das & senior officials of both the organisations. We’ll allot land to NFR for a second entry into Guwahati Rly Station from Paltan Bazar.”
