The West Garo Hills police launched a later-night ‘Special Counter-Insurgency Operation’ on Friday; and nabbed a 3-member dacoit gang, suspected to be involved with various offences including – abduction, vehicle lifting and extortion.
According to the West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) – Vivekanand Singh Rathore, the security forces launched the operation, after obtaining specific inputs about the movement of the gang along the Rajabala region.
The operation was launched at around 8 PM on Friday in Nikikona Village under the jurisdiction of Phulbari Police Station.
“During the operation, the police intercepted three criminals and seized a pistol with a magazine and three live rounds of ammunition. Besides, a motorcycle (ML08 G 4295), a scooty and mobile phones were also confiscated from their possession,” – stated SP Rathore.
These offenders have been identified as – Silman R. Marak (30), Elias Alom (24) and Nur Hussain (22).
Meanwhile, a case has been registered and investigation is underway into the matter.
