The Meghalaya Chief Minister – Conrad Sangma along with Education Minister – Lahkmen Rymbui on Monday made a surprise inspection of the Pine Mount School, located at Shillong.
Sarma was accompanied by the Chief Secretary (CS) – DP Wahlang, Commissioner & Secretary for Education – BK Tiwari; alongwith other officials.
The inspection takes place at a time, when the school has made headlines for poor management and dilapidated facilities, including filthy toilets, auditorium and school field, among others.
Addressing the mediapersons after the inspection, the Meghalaya CM informed that the concerned departments have been directed to ensure that the construction work of new hostel building must be taken-up, before the commencement of the next academic year.

“Improvement of infrastructure like toilets and repairs for other infrastructure like hostel, school field & auditorium will be taken up Have spoken to Department to ensure the construction of the new hostel building is taken up before the next academic year starts @dpradhanbjp Other administrative requirements like offices for staff and Principal will also be examined. We will look into the different concerns to ensure we reform this premier institution that has been a pride of Shillong and Meghalaya for generations.”
