Agartala, October 17, 2022 : A man had crossed the barbed-wire fence of Indo-Bangladesh border to meet his long-lost friend residing along the Indian territory. In order to celebrate the reunion, both the men sat for a boozing party at Tripura’s Kashba in Kamalasagar under Sepahijala district. But the joy lasted for a while, as both the men were apprehended by BSF personnel on Sunday.

It is reported that Tapan Chandra Sarkar of Bancharampur area of Brahmanbaria district in Bangladesh entered Indian territory through valid documents on September 27 last with the purpose of visiting Tripura and moving around different places for a long time. But, suddenly remembering his close friend Antar Chandra Sarkar, Tapan went to Kashba at Kamalasagar, went near the pond and called his friend through a Bangladeshi SIM card and asked him to cross the barbed-wire fence of the international border illegally.

Accordingly, Antar entered Indian territory crossing the barbed-wire fence illegally. The purpose is that the two friends have not been together for a long time and cannot hold a boozing party. They had planned to consume liquor for some time and Antar will return to Bangladesh through the same route he used for entering Tripura. But their plan failed to execute as a vigilant troop of Miahpara BSF camp had learned about this activity. When both the Bangladeshi citizens were enjoying liquor, a BSF jawan went and arrested them.

However, Tapan Chandra Sarkar submitted his passport to the BSF and it showed that he had a visa to stay for a few more months. But Tapan’s friend Antar Chandra Sarkar illegally entered Indian territory. Although BSF handed over both of them to the Madhupur police station staff. It is learned that the Madhupur police station staff released Tapan Chandra Sarkar because he had a valid passport. But it is also learned that Antar Chandra Sarkar will be sent to the sub-divisional court tomorrow.

Madhupur police station Officer in-Charge (OC) Bibhash Ranjan Das said that a lot of Bangladeshi and Indian coins were recovered from their possession and a bag full of drug paraphernalia, liquor bottles, bidis, cigarettes and tobacco were recovered. But now it is to be seen on what purpose the Antar Chandra Sarkar illegally entered India and what comes out of the police investigation.
