Likewise, the Senapati District Wrestling Association of Manipur (SDWAM) is gearing up to host the first-ever state-level ‘Manipur State Indigenous Wrestling Championship, 2022’ from November 23-26.

This four-day event will take place at Mini Stadium in Senapati District headquarters. The Manipur Chief Minister – N. Biren Singh is likely to grace the inaugural session as its ‘chief guest’.

Addressing the mediapersons, the General Secretary of SDWAM – R.K. Gideon said that the entry fee process for the championship commenced on October 17 at the SDWAM office. The last date for form submission will take place on November 17.

Athletes will participate under two categories – Heavyweight (65 kg and above) and Lightweight (below 65 kg).

The winners of both categories will receive Rs. 1 lakh (First prize), Rs. 70,000 (Second prize), Rs. 50,000 (Third prize), Rs. 30,000 (4th prize), and certificates. Fixtures of the players will take place on November 22 next.
