The Hynniewtrep National Youth Movement (HNYM) today organized a rally, protesting against the delay in formulating a policy to ensure maximum employment of local youths in the private sector of Meghalaya. Agitators marched from Shillong Civil Hospital point, took a round of the State secretariat, and culminated at the starting point.

The Joint Secretary of HNYM – Wyraiwan Sohtun, cited the rally as a “reminder to the state government of the memorandum” submitted in 2021.

It is worth noting that the organization submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister – Conrad Sangma, demanding 80% reservation in the private sector and formulating a policy to resolve the unemployment issue.

As per the report of the ‘Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy’ or CMIE, Chhattisgarh and Meghalaya recorded the lowest unemployment rates across the nation.
