Manipur Government Strives To Build Vibrant Start-up Ecosystem; Realize Hidden Potential In Science & Technology: CM – N. Biren Singh

The Manipur Chief Minister – N. Biren Singh, visited the Innovation Hub on Thursday, a platform to help the youths realize their potential in science and technology, innovation, and creativity.

During the visit, Singh reiterated to build a vibrant start-up ecosystem in Manipur by establishing a solid network with IT Companies, aspiring local entrepreneurs, and academic institutions.

The CM, accompanied by the state Chief Secretary (CS) – Dr Rajesh Kumar and IT Director – N. Deben also interacted with mediapersons as part of the “Destination Infinity – Manipur IT Startup Challenge”. The Startup Challenge was organized by the department of Information Technology in collaboration with CubeTen technologies and iHM.

Citing the projects as encouraging and innovative, he mooted to take up the project (prototypes based on the Internet of Things (IoT) and implement them practically in some specific areas on a trial basis.

Such projects include – flood monitoring systems and early warning systems for rivers, control of home appliances, weighing machines, and cloud reporting and management.

It would help to induce an innovation-driven approach with industry collaboration and learning from other experts and leaders.

The CM highlighted that the Innovation Hub in Manipur IT Park was inaugurated in March 2021 as the first IT Innovation Hub in the Northeast to bring out new ideas and generate new products in line with the ‘Atma Nirbhar’ and ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign.

Besides, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with MikroTik to explore possibilities in certifying network engineers for next-generation network infrastructure.

This hub consists of three significant laboratories (robotics, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things). Nearly 1,200 students from various institutes visited it for exposure to emerging technologies, and 26 students completed an internship as part of the academic project.

The Innovation Hub Manipur intends to promote new technology/knowledge/innovation-based IT start-ups into Emerging Technologies and provide a platform for the expedited commercialization of technologies/ideas developed by the entrepreneur.
