Manipur’s vocal powerhouse Jeanpui Kamei from Churachandpur district bagged the sponsorship award for famed America’s Got Talent (AGT) Auditions.

Kamei was declared winner of the first edition of the mega talent search ‘Bring It On! NorthEast India’, one of the largest talent hunts of Northeast India.

Jointly organized by the Echoes and Chiko Adventures, the contest is part of the ongoing Northeast Autumn Festival 2022 hosted at Jorcheng in Manipur’s Ukhrul District. The online talent hunt opened to multitudinous talents and acts, witnessed the participation of a large number of impressive candidates from across the northeastern states. However, Jeanpui was adjudged the best among them following two rounds of video auditions. As an honour to her extraordinary talent, the organizing team has decided to sponsor Jeanpui for the upcoming season of AGT auditions.

According to a press release, the organizers will provide sponsorship worth Rs 1.5 lakh to Jeanpui. “The winner is also given a chance to claim the prize for any other national-level talent competition (i.e., in place of AGT audition) for which the sponsorship amount goes up to Rs. 1 lakh. The organizers will reimburse the prize money once the winner is eligible to audition for either AGT or national level competition,” the release further reads.

Speaking on the initiative, the Manager of Communications in Echoes – Khuisang Rungsung, says, “Bring It On! NorthEast India aims to present a platform to showcase talents from Northeast India to the world”.

“We take pride in doing our bit to lay a path for budding talents in the region to attain the right exposure and better opportunities in the future, and Echoes intends to make Bring It On! North East India a calendar event,” Rungsung added.

“We want to take Northeast talents to the global level. The 1st edition of the contest was open to all bonafide residents of the North East States (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura) with no age limit,” he said.

Echoes’ Event Manager Sanza K Shimray, says, “The project mulls to encourage and inspire potential talents in the region and to create opportunities for gifted individuals to showcase their capabilities.”

The 19-year-old Jeanpui Kamei will display her vocal talent at the Northeast Autumn Festival 2022 on October 25 at Jorcheng Grassland in Lunghar.

It is worth noting that the first edition of Northeast Autumn Festival 2022 kicked off on October 20 amid the picturesque backdrop of Jorcheng Meadow in Lunghar Village of Manipur. Jorcheng is a scenic grassland located 21 km away from Ukhrul town.

Organized by Chiko Adventures and supported by Manipur Tourism, this event aims to promote eco-tourism in North East India and unlock the high tourism potential of the region.
