The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) urged the Meghalaya government to enable doctors and health specialists to purchase land in the state.
Questioning the disparity, the Meghalaya BJP leader – AL Hek, claimed that the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officials are eligible to get land in the state despite not being qualified under the Meghalaya Land Transfer Act. But the same norm is not followed in the case of health workers.
“We should apply the same method so that we can retain the doctors, and their families can come here,” – he added.
Alleging that many doctors and specialists have left Meghalaya because of the non-provision of lands, he said that the government must take some requisite measures to resolve the issue.
Besides, the BJP leader informed that of receiving a slew of complaints from people about gaps in the Health department.
